8th CCE Newsletter, July 2012

Dear CCE Network members and CCE newsletter readers!

After being the Focal Point of the CCE network since its inception in 2009, I am now moving on to other work in the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tanzania. Although I will have less time for the CCE network, my responsibilities in the areas of agriculture, post harvest, forestry, energy and water issues will keep me engaged in CCE-related activities.

My departure is tinged with sadness for leaving a job that is partly focused on what has become a truly dynamic network. The Tanzanian proverb "mtu ni watu" - "Without fellowship a person cannot grow" shows, what networking is all about:
We are increasing our capacities through contributions ofour CCE network colleaguesand we are increasing the capacities of our colleagues by sharing with them our contributions and knowledge in the CCE network.

Have a look at the newest edition of our must know circular summarizing the most important events, products and dynamics in the CCEnetwork:

  • New climate relevant SDC projects in priority countries like Tanzania, Mongolia, Moçambique, Laos, Nicaragua and Burkina Faso, Nicaragua and Burkina Faso( e.g. increasing resilience of smallholders, linking hydro meteorological stations and people, support the creation of sustainable charcoal markets etc.);
  • a successful first meeting of the GPCC National Program Officers in Saas Fee and Berne;
  • and: Are you up to date regarding key CC knowledge for development? A brand new CCE training offer forSwiss development practicioners on the one hand and for coordination offices and partner organizations in SDC partner countries on the other hand is ready for your subscription and demand!

Nonetheless while preparing my departureI amalso eagerto do something new and to work again in a field context. Besides I can also leave in a relaxed way as I know the CCE network will be well-supported by the New Focal Point François Droz who has many years of experience within SDC – most recently as Coordinator in our Cooperation Office in Pretoria. I know François is looking forward to expanding his engagement as of August 20 in CCE activities after having been involved in climate change mitigation programmes in South Africa.

I would like to welcome François and wish him all the best in his new role as CCE Focal Point!

I want to thank all CCE networkers - Dare to share in networks! - especially also our CCE and GPCC backstoppers.

Please let me mention Riff Fullan and Nara Weigel for doing an awesome job in the faciliation of our network and in the edition of our CCE network products!

All the best  to you, dear CCE colleagues and readers, it is good to know that progress in our topics in development cooperation can count on 279 committed networkers!
